Sunday homesick blues

We're a tad annoyed today as we had an afternoon bbq soiree at a bar planned where we were going to drop a full-on old school Cali' gan$ta-rap set which has been cancelled due to the biblical showers this grubby little island has been experiencing since wednesday. Instead we find ourselves mooching around the house on a gloomy, rain-soaked sunday unable to escape from tales of recession woe and mp's expenses.

So, we're coping the only way we know how : by indulging in an online shopping extravaganza inbetween bouts of watching old Million Dollar Man clips and our favourite old rap videos about the loot/opulence on Youtube :



Fact : Ted's entrance theme has been scientifically proven to be the greatest song ever made and is the ultimate song to blast when cruisin' slow through the peasant packed streets on a friday or saturday night. There really needs to be a greatest laugh contest between Ted, Rusty Lee and Mr ChiCity.



This shoot with Mean Gene is an excellent footnotes version of classic Ted clips including the black-kid-with-the-basketball promo, the turfing-the-kids-out-of-the-pool (that's not a euphemism, by the way) promo and the twin-referee promo. Shame it didn't include anything from the Ted-proves-everybody-has-a-price-after-getting-a-papercut-counting-his-cash promo, though.

Too $hort - Money In The Ghetto



This might not be $hort Dog's best song with the words The Ghetto in its title but it is the best rap song to sample Hollywood Swinging by Kool & The Gang. $hort dog kills it with the plaid shirts here but when we tried experimenting with plaid a while back we just looked like Jimmy Nail in Auf Wiedersehen Pet.

Bone, Thugs & Harmony ft. Eazy E - Foe Tha Love Of $$$



Apparently there's only ever been a clean video version of this but since it completely butchered Eazy's verse it was gayer than when Sal caught Vito leathered up in the homme club so praise is due to the dunn who painstakingly synced the audio of the proper version with all the cursing and references to violence, sex and drugs to the clean video.

AZ ft. Nas - Mo' Money, Mo' Murder "Homicide"



A perfect example of the sub-genre officially known as We've-just-seen-Goodfellas/The Godfather/Casino-rap. Can't say we're particularly fond of Nas anymore but we'd be down for another AZ and Nas collaboration if it was anywhere near as good as this or, indeed, their last collabo from 2004.

B.G ft. the entire Ca$h Money roster - Bling Bling



Okay, the flossin' was all a sham as Baby probably had B.G, Juve', Mannie, Turk and Weezy living in his garage off $50-a-week allowances and driving around in a shared Ford Escort but this is still the song which best defines Ca$h Money Records's golden-era and B.G's Chopper City In The Ghetto set still wipes the floor with any Wayne album you care to mention.
