My Own Funny Marquee Thingy!

For years, I've seen these sites that have these funny, co-incidental movie title marquees that spell out funny things.

You know; like this one:

This one:

This:

And this:

Well, seeing all these, I never thought in all my life that I'd ever see such a thing as these in my life, not in these neck of the woods, not here.

...

Well, as of July 31st of this year, I was proven wrong.

A fun way to pass the time

these 3 celebrity gossip sites are my favorite:

if you want to read a true insider's secrets (written by an anonymously blogging lawyer), go here
BONUS: this item about old hollywood

this one is a huge collection of blind items and mostly correct guesses

and this one I love b/c this retired hollywood publicist just outs gay and lesbian actors all day long -- always fun

back to the future!

they are going to start making DeLoreans again! great scott! (click above photo for article)

this model looks like drop dead fred and i am into it.

Zac Efron Sings Rodgers And Hammerstein....

Okay, this is going to take a little explaining...

I came across this video a few seconds ago and decided that this MUST be shared with all seven of my faithful viewers.

First of all, I don't want to hear anything about Zac Efron-bashing or High School Musical hatred or anything like that; I kind of doubt there was any of that going on with whoever made this video. Believe it or not, it looks more like someone why actually likes their subject.

It could have been worse; much worse, believe me.

And second of all, I don't know who was responsible for this - I can safely guess that it wasn't Kenny Ortega, though.

The only thing I can tell you for sure is that the only other thing I've ever seen that comes close to this had to do with Pink Floyd and The Wizard of Oz.

So with that in mind, enjoy.

Yeah...that's what I said, too; I can just imagine what poor Julie Andrews would say.

fall must haves

so far i am disappointed with high street's fall fashion stocks. i'm disappointed that i have yet to witness this season's 'return of body concious clothing' save for a mediocre pencil skirt or two. we just seem to be getting more and more of the same shapeless (though flaw-concealing) shifts and tunics. i am pleased, however to see a lot of grey (one of my favs) - purple is expected to be another big hit as are lots and lost of accessories.

here are my must haves for the season, fashionable or not.

this dress from odd molly is perfect for feeling pretty and femmine, but also not overly dressed up. plus, i'm really into plaid right now.

tri-blend cardigan in grey by american apparel. aka 'the softie'

longchamp has been making these bags for a while, but i think they would be especially stylish for this season. investing in one won't leave you broke, and they are beautiful, classic pieces that could easily become a permanent wardrobe fixture.

area code bracelts. maybe they could be considered tacky, but the simple design proves otherwise. and i think it's a nice sort of memento if you are living away from home.

bing bang do great, slightly quirky jewelry. this jack one is my favorite.

these socks are really sexy in a lolita sort of way. and warm!

love it/hate it

love the juxtaposition of the granny dress (which I am usually not into) and the modern hair/make-up

Today's Obligatory Weird Video(s)...

Okay, here's the question: what exactly is this thing called "Gimme Gimme Octopus"?

Well, that link didn't explain much - maybe these random clips from this Japanese show will explain.

Ohh, I give up. Anyone else wanna explain it, knock yourself out - my brain's fried.

I'm nosy and a secret voyeur

a fun way to make up stories about other people's lives from just a glimpse that is probably carefully constructed (or extremely flippant but surely not somewhere in between)

http://www.onesentence.org/

that shirt is so nerdtrash

Last night I was watching flight of the conchords and realized our society is desperately missing a term for clothes/people that are totally white trash but they are super nerd-like. So, I coined one --- NERDTRASH

For example, bret always wears total nerdtrash sweatshirts, such as...

(I know that's not a sweatshirt but I couldn't find a good pic of one)

Another good example of someone who dresses way nerdtrash is...

Napoleon Dynamite (the movie sucks btw) is the epitome of nerdtrash. He is way white trash but definitely in the nerd world.

Thoughts?

some new(ish) lady music

here is a video by bat for lashes. i think the song is great, sort of kate nash like, but is even better because it's supported by such an eerie video.

and here is coco rosie, who beat box and play harp in this cover of 'turn me on'

if you don't want to wear a fitted cap and sing in a weird falsetto voice after watching that, then you are inhuman.

morbidspace

the other day i was thinking about what happens to people's myspace pages when they die - myspace says that it will not terminate an inactive profile unless the family specifically requests it. i also found this: http://www.mydeathspace.com/ which records the myspace users who have died as well as their cause of death. it's fairly disturbing, not only because nearly everyone on this site is under the age of 25, but also because the causes of death are all so similar; drug over-dose, car accident, suicide.

i'm not sure how i feel about this page from a moral stand point - if i would want my internet persona out living me or strangers being able to access the intimate details of my death. however, it is a very jarring site- makes me reconsider how i live each day.

a new muse?

here is a video of joe-gina in 1994. he is the tall skinny boy on the far right. thirteen years later, he is still performing, but now wearing a silver spray-painted bike helmet on his head with a band of men who wear eyeliner and space costumes, among other things. i'm proud to consider myself among their privileged friends.

My Obligatory Stupid Video Link Of The Moment...

The Russians know their shit...

I was going to say something snide about how boring American architecture is and why can't we ever come up w/ something like this... until I read that the building below was designed by American architect Eric Owen Moss. oops. it's still cool as a mothafucka though

This is a concept for a proposed hotel in St Petersburg, Russia. The courtyard has a huge waterway and there is a 700-seat concert hall inside.

Homwrecker and Manwhore

Even though I like this pic (though she's totally trying to be dita)...I must agree when perez hilton says...

Eat Me Drink Me

dita is amazing and can do no wrong in my eyes. she is a true style icon. and i can't believe Marilyn Manson is now dating that horrible excuse for a vagina, evan rachel wood, who said having sex while it was raining blood in the new music video was,"one of the most romantic moments" she's experienced.

here is the video for 'heart shaped glasses':

i do, however appreciate the reference to stanley kubrick's lolita.

What Tarot Card Are You?

Which Tarot Card Are You?

THE FOOL. As Card 0, the Fool lies at the beginning of the major arcana, but also somewhat apart from the other cards. In medieval courts, the court jester was someone who was not expected to follow the same rules as others. He could observe and then poke fun. This makes the Fool unpredictable and full of surprises. He reminds us of the unlimited potential and spontaneity inherent in every moment. There is a sense with this card that anything goes - nothing is certain or regular. The Fool adds the new and unfamiliar to a situation. The Fool also represents the complete faith that life is good and worthy of trust. Some might call the Fool too innocent, but his innocence sustains him and brings him joy. In readings, the Fool can signal a new beginning or change of direction - one that will guide you onto a path of adventure, wonder and personal growth. He also reminds you to keep your faith and trust your natural responses. If you are facing a decision or moment of doubt, the Fool tells you to believe in yourself and follow your heart no matter how crazy or foolish your impulses may seem.

What Is It About Turkish Movies?

Gall-DANG, but there's some weird movies out there.

I speak from experience, my friends, because 9 out of 10 of the movies I own are indeed of the strange variety. And those strange ones are indeed foreign. And of those foreign ones...

Yep: Turkish.

My last post was even about the Turkish version of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video, so it should come as no surprise that I harbor at least a little apprehension in saying anything further about Turkey, their films or their culture in general, lest I run the risk of starting a social incident. Or something.

But anyway, if you are indeed familiar with Turkish films, you then know that they just love...no, make that LOOOVE...to copy films and/or TV shows from the States. Cases in point?

I already own The Turkish Star Wars (aka: Dünyayi kurtaran adam)...

As well as Turkish Star Trek (aka: Turist Ömer Uzay Yolunda)...

And yes, even Turkey's take on The Wizard Of Oz (aka: Aysecik ve sihirli cüceler rüyalar ülkesinde)...

But I've yet to get my grubby little hands on such masterworks as the Turkish versions of Superman...

Batman...

The Exorcist...

E.T. The Extraterrestrial...

And the one I simply must have beyond the shadow of a doubt: the Turkish remake of...

wait for it...

ready?...

RAMBO!!

Oh, Turkish cinema...why must you hurt so bad yet be so goooood?

Dope out.
