Quick: Does This Logo Look Familiar To You?

If so, then congratulations: you watched the same TV I did growing up.

Don't ask me why, but "60 Minutes" was a common fixture in the household of my youth.  The folks liked to feel informed and intelligent by listening to the soothing reporting voices of Harry Reasoner, Mike Wallace and Morley Safer and the like, and Andy Rooney was always good for a laugh.

Me, I stuck around for the stopwatch.

Yet, there was always a point in the broadcast that grabbed my attention - and I'm sure it did yours too, had you watched it - when a particular advertisement came on for a particular business insurance company that, for some strange reason, never seemed to show itself outside of this show.  A sponsor so attention-grabbing should be shown a lot more often , I thought even at the tender age of however old I was.  It never was, and all the sadder.

The company's name was Employer's Insurance of Wausau - I looked it up and apparently now they're Liberty Mutual, which is a lot less attention-grabbing, name-wise, and I don't really remember any Liberty Mutual commercials.

At least not as well as I remember THESE commercials.

Pay particular attention to the end of the ad; this is what everyone remembers:

...NOW do you remember?

I thought you would.  Now you wanna see Harry Reasoner do a report about The White House or something, don'tcha?

I thought you would.

Dope out.
