NEW DELHI, INDIA: Finnish handset major Nokia has introduced its two new smartphones in the Indian market and both the handsets run on the Symbian Anna platform, a new update of the Symbian platform.
The devices launched today, Nokia E6 and Nokia X7, are priced at Rs. 18,679 and Rs. 22,829 respectively, said the Nokia executives. However, the Nokia website has a recommended price of Rs. 17,999 and Rs. 21,999 respectively for E6 and X7.
At the launch function here, Nokia said the company would continue to support Symbian Anna till 2016. The company has already tied up with Microsoft for its Windows Phone 7.
Viral Oza, director of marketing at Nokia India said that Symbian Anna offers a renewed user experience and has rich and sharper icons with improved text input. The company said that the Symbian Anna can be downloaded on three existing Symbian smartphones from September, 2011 onwards for free.
“With these two new devices on exciting Symbian Anna, we aim to further consolidate our leadership position in the Indian smartphone market,” he said. Oza also informed that the company will start shipping Nokia N8s, E7s, C7s and C6-01s with new Symbian Anna software from July.
Nokia E6 is a touch and type monoblock QWERTY business smartphone while Nokia X7 is focused for entertainment enthusiasts. Read More
