Bagyong Falcon (aka Typhoon Falcon, Tropical Storm Falcon) is still moving at 19kph in a West Northwest direction and thus threatening areas in the extreme parts of Northern Luzon. This is according to the latest 5 a.m. June 23, 2011 bulletin of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
The bulletin further said that Bagyong Falcon was last spotted at 250 km Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes at 10 p.m. last night. It still has a maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
Public Storm Signal Number 1 (PSWS # 1) has been up over the following areas:
Albay,
Catanduanes,
Camarines Norte,
Camarines Sur,
Isabela,
Cagayan including Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands and
Batanes Group of Islands.
Again, people living in low lying and mountainous areas under PSWS # 1 are cautioned for flashfloods and landslides. The PAGASA added that Bagyong Falcon is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon and will bring rains over Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
Gale warning has also been issued over the eastern seaboard of the country and the western seaboard of Luzon and of Visayas.
Will "Falcon" hit on land? According to PAGASA's forecast of the weather disturbance's track, it may not happen.
