After a long fight with cancer, Mr. Dirty Dancing has passed on.
Don't get me wrong, he will be missed; he was a great dancer, his acting was fine in films like Ghost and Point Break, his wife Lisa Niemi seemed to truly and genuinely love him and he seemed like an all-around nice guy.
Really, I mean it - in all sincerity that he will be missed.
But in my mind and as far as I am concerned, he will be missed most painfully and most deeply for one thing; the one thing that was in fact one of the greatest achievements in modern American cinema.
The one thing that cemented Patrick Swayze as something more than the guy who danced with Jennifer Grey, swung a stick in the desert in Steel Dawn and hung ten with Keanu Reeves in Point Break.
And that thing is THIS:
Fare thee well, Patrick; dance your way up to Hevaen.
Dope out.
