L1s don't visit these sites because most them don't apply for green card. L1s are majorly used by big companies like TCS, Infosys, etc. Those big corporates won't apply for GC. Very rarely based on relationship and long service some apply for GC.
I see lots of L1 bashing. In reality L1s are pitier than H1s. L1 cannot transfer their visa and change job as H1s do. They have to wait till H1 quota to open up for changing jobs. They run in a rat race to keep their manager happy to get better rating in their appraisal.
PS: I am on H1 status.
6 to 1...... maybe L1 guys don't visit this forum since they already got thier GCs....
H1 loosers still hanging here.....

Take one month unpaid vacation. Packup your things. Send family home. Work for one or two weeks(stay in a motel or with friends), resign and go same day or next day.
This will reduce your anxiety about your future.
I am on my 2nd phase of H1B visa which is valid until 2012.
I want to quit my job and go back to my home country.
How long after I quit my job do I get to stay here to wrap up and ship my stuff??
Does that jeopardize my status? I plan to be here for about 30 days after quitting my job. WOuld that be ok? or is it overstaying?
If I ever need to apply for a tourist visa in future will this jeopardize my chances of getting a visa then?
Thank you!

Hi..
Need some urgent help here..
One of my friend is working for X employer on L1 Visa since 2007. He applied for H1B visa through Y company in 2008 quota, luckily he got it but never joined the company. Now his L1 visa is about to expire.
Question is
What will happen to his H1B visa after L1 visa renewal ?
Thanks in advance
When the H1B was approved if COS was filed and approved, your friend is in trouble. The moment the H1B was approved with COS - means the H1B was coming into effect based on the effective date and L1 was gone. But if your friend did not join the company who sponsored the H1B and still working with L1 - he is out of status. L1 was invalid and he didnot join the H1B sponsor. Effectively he does not have any visa now.
But if the H1B was not filed as COS - Change of Status, he is fine. Now if you go to renew the L1, he would lose the H1B. Whatever the latest visa became valid. So if he wants to switch over to H1B and if its not expired, he may need to file for COS.

I did it about 10 days before scheduled date in July. Went around 2 PM. The guy at front desk was reluctant but let me in due to my case being genuine pregnancy after discussing with supervisor.

PD isn't current, but just check i-485 online status, showing "Document production or Oath Ceremony" (i.e., the last cycle).
There was indeed a soft LUD in June this year. After that nothing much else. Is there sth good coming along my way?
Appreciate if anyone here can share his/her thoughts/comments.

agiridhar,
I was sarcastic, if you didn't get it. INS/government always had monopoly over giving out of GCs(the constitution guarantees it for them). They never had competition about it. You're kidding yourself to think that you can sue them on anti-trust laws. Some other laws may be but definitely not anti-trust laws.

I meant to ask about a turks & caicos visa. It is a british overseas territory but doesn't seem to require a visa from anyone.

Real Life Cases
Pablo
A highly-skilled Architect from Mexico, Pablo moved to the U.S. in 1999 when he got a job offer from a New York architecture firm, seeking skilled architects overseas to fill the shortages that the industry faced. Pablo has a Master of Architecture degree with Honorable Mention from the best university in Latin America. Upon arrival in the U.S., Pablo quickly showed that he was an exemplary employee, working hard, late and on weekends and beating all expectations. His wife, also an architect, also outperformed all expectations. Their employers say they have no better employees.
After nearly 10 frustrating years of waiting and with no Green Card in sight, Pablo has job offers in Canada, Australia, France and his native Mexico, and has decided to pack his bags and leave the U.S. in January of 2008. His employer is very upset because their hands are tied and they cannot retain their best employee.

Ultimately, this bill will go from Senate to Conference Committee and the house members may not approve these provisions. So, we do not really know what will happen.

Hello people,
When you contribute money keep in mind that when you get GC you are not the only one to get GC but your whole family will get the benefit. So please consider that also when you are contributing money and please contribute generously.
Cheers

If the cruise goes outside of US territorial waters, everyone on the ship needs to show eligibility to re-enter the US on return. This is true even if the ship does not make any port call in a non-US territory.
In your case it looks like the ship even makes a stop at BC. Irrespective of whether the ship makes the stop or whether you get out of it or not, the fact that it goes out of US waters is what matters.
So yes, you will have problems coming back if you go on this cruise.
You can however fly to Alaska and come back (like a domestic flight) without any problems, as long as it is a non-stop flight from the US to Alaska (no stops in Canada).

anyways, I like the postive spirit.
I mean literally.
Here is one last scenario ( perhaps that is why all attorneys are saying - 'continue with your filings and go on with your life' AND all old saws all good old folks at IV might say 'I told you so'). So, not to be let out, here is my take on things to unfold tomorrow:
Why did they wait till Jul 2?
They will release the Aug VB tomorrow. In which they will retrogress most or all categories to 'U'.
They will enforce the 'DMV office rule'. All who have filed on the basis of Jul VB, will be receipted, may be finger printed but AOS adjudicated and GCs issued as dates become current.
Good night and good luck to all, particularly to those '599 (174 members and 425 guests)'
Ok Guys enough "PREDECTIONS" now go to bed.
Only the coming days will tell us what is going on and what will happen. Everything else is just hear-say.
Go to sleep and remember that we DO have day jobs.

read the approach called 'bridging' (last paragraph) here:
http://www.murthy.com/news/n_yath1b.html
it literally describes your case (H1 transfer to C when a transfer to B is pending).

Just to let everyone know if any of you encounter the same issue -
called up USCIS Customer Service and spoke to them about this error. They said to mention this in the Cover Letter (When I send the supporting docs) as a mistake that happened while filing the EAD and what the correct answer should be. They said it'll be then taken care of.
Am going to do accordingly!
Thanks
I did some what similar mistake and explained the same in Cover Letter while sending the supporting documents.
Got my approvals also.
Thanks,
Krishna
