morbidspace

the other day i was thinking about what happens to people's myspace pages when they die - myspace says that it will not terminate an inactive profile unless the family specifically requests it. i also found this: http://www.mydeathspace.com/ which records the myspace users who have died as well as their cause of death. it's fairly disturbing, not only because nearly everyone on this site is under the age of 25, but also because the causes of death are all so similar; drug over-dose, car accident, suicide.

i'm not sure how i feel about this page from a moral stand point - if i would want my internet persona out living me or strangers being able to access the intimate details of my death. however, it is a very jarring site- makes me reconsider how i live each day.
