The Nobel Prize for Literature
2003
J. M. Coetzee
South Africa
In his will, Alfred Nobel stated that prizes for Literature be given to those who, during the preceding year, "shall have conferred the greatest benefit on mankind" and that one part be given to the person who "shall have produced in the field of literature the most outstanding work in an ideal direction." The prize, therefore, is not associated with one particular book, but bestowed upon an author who produces works consistent with Nobel's vision. Create your own collection of Nobel Prize winners.
