I read about this a while ago somewhere but didn't see any pictures. now there are pictures, and it's so much better.


a hello kitty hospital just opened in Yuanlin, Taiwan. and while it has v. good intentions,

Director Tsai Tsung-chi said . . . "I wish that everyone who comes here, mothers who suffer while giving birth and children who suffer from an illness, can get medical care while seeing these kitties and bring a smile to their faces, helping forget about discomfort and recover faster," he told Reuters.

the pictures just make me kinda creeped out! I'm into having not-stark-white walls at a hospital, but the picture below of the woman in a hospital bed w/ the hello kitty comforter just makes me think of a 9 yr old girl's sleepover. but maybe thats the point.





and for you who really, truly love hello kitty, to the point of a wedding dress . . .

I recently came across an article about the french new wave/neo-noir film by jean-pierre melville that basically is a "how to dress like a 1960s lone assassain" which is pretty sweet, but I remembered how much I loveddd the movie when I saw it a couple years ago.

I am lazy and don't feel like typing it, but definitely netflix it and read the wikipedia and I am sure you will enjoy it as much as I did.


plus I heart this movie times 10 b/c it has an IRC (interracial couple), which is my favorite. oh wait, actually I love gay IRCs more. also b/c it has 60s clothing, which I think is beautiful and classy. plus, for an action film, it really only has about 3 or 4 "action" scenes. it is quiet, in a good way. but still v. anticipating. plus, how can you not love anything from the 60s that incorporated samurai thinking/spartan living?

now I am obsessed with the song in my rockabilly video, but since i can't speak japanese, i can't really figure out what the song is. I've tried every possible way of finding it, but no luck.

in my searching i came across two japanese bands that joebot told me about a long time ago and i sort of forgot about: portugal japan and the polysics. The polysics are pretty main stream i guess, but they were just one of those bands i always heard people talk about but forgot to actually listen to. Here is the new polysics video:

(p.s. all the school kids have book bags like the one in this video, they are so nice, i really wanted one but couldn't find them anywhere.)

my trip to tokyo/kyoto was both delicious and funny. Here is a video i took of (probably) my favorite part:
(you can hear mr. fantasy go 'woah!' and me go "ohhh!' in the background at two different parts)



this is in yoyogi park in tokyo. There were three groups of different rockabillies, two biker groups and one teeny-bopper/ sock-hop type group. All of them brought their own music and all of them were dancing, but they spent about a hour warming up/ drinking beer at 11 am/ doing their hair/ chain smoking. Actually, some of them are smoking WHILE dancing, and they never stopped. We stood there for about half an hour...or more.
