City of the week: Paris

I took this one of Laduree!
Me in Pareeee :)

Bonjour tout le monde!

This one I’ve actually been to… TWICE! I still haven’t had nearly enough time to explore all this amazing city has to offer.

I need to specify here… Because I think I’m obsessed with Paris AFTER sunset. The lights turn the city from a beautiful city into a magical one.

The architecture that has made Paris famous is really not overrated… But again, better at night. La Tour Eiffel, Avenue des Champs Élysées, Musée de Louvre, Château de Versailles, Notre Dame et l’Arc de Triomphe- How pretentious do I sound? ;)

There are also other gems that make this city incredible! Having a picnic along the River Seine or viewing art in the George Pompidou centre- I saw an exhibition that centred on Africa’s plight.

You can also stop for the famous Macaroons and hot chocolate at Laduree (it will change your life!)

Tip: Galeries Lafayette has high end, designer items at slightly discounted prices. You’ll go mental for everything available

City of the week: Buenos Aires

Sorry for the delay!

This week's country obsession of the week is being scaled down to city of the week. And I think I'll stick with City of the week. Don't think whole countries do it for me...

This week I focus on Buenos Aires, Argentina.

It's the poetic spanish language

It's the sultry latino men (who dip chocolate by the way)

It's the tango which I think is one of the best latin dances ever

There is (apparently) an amazing nightlife and awesome shopping

I have never been but it's definitely on my top 10. Can't wait to explore this gorgeous South American city.

Country of the week...

Every week I'll post amazing pictures of countries that I'm dying to visit or have visited and reeeeally enjoyed...

To start I'm going with Croatia.

I am absolutely in love with this place and I've only ever been through photographs. My wish is to definitely visit Croatia. I don't know how navigating this country as possibly the first black person they've seen will go but I'm willing to try.

This country has sandy white beaches and crystal blue seas that compete with the best.

Also the buildings and architecture are to die!

Istria is where I'm dying to go. It's often compared to Tuscany in it's landscape and ancient Roman architecture. Also would love to visit the famous walled city of Dubrovnik.

Just in case you're not familiar with its location: it is neighbours with Slovenia (which is neighbours with Italy), Hungary, Serbia and Bosnia & Herzegovina.

I want to look like a world citizen/international spy when I fly, too.

I <3 travel blogs!

I heart travel blogs. especially when they are people that I know. a couple of my friends have travel blogs that I am super into, even if I don’t read them religiously. I am way into them b/c they provide me with an opportunity to faux-experience for my broke self what it is like to spend a month in Italy, 3 months in Hong Kong, or a year in Argentina. wayyyy better than a douche-y travel book telling you where to go as a tourist. and when it includes pictures of food, even better!!!

Here are some awesome travel blogs (some friends of mine, some peeps I don’t know, some I've already mentioned here):

Soom and Cosmo way south of the border (

Buenos Aires, Argentina):

who they are: 2 american fellas, working and living in buenos aires, learning spanish and the culture
what they post about: integrating themselves w/ the locals, the food, going to futbol games, drinking

The Slums of Shaolin (China):

who he is: an american guy by way of oakland, ca, living and working in china
what he posts about: the food!, traveling, observations, daily life in china, what he expected vs. what is different

La cantina ratti (Alba, Italy):
who she is: an american missy and her friend(s), living in italy and working at a winery
what she posts about: mistranslations, getting into the italian work ethic, learning italian, cultural differences

Elyse Sewell's Journal (Hong Kong and Korea):

who she is: an american working as a model in asia (the chick from america's next top model)
what she posts about: the food, hilarious translations, cultural differences, living with a bunch of models

I'm gonna pitch an idea to a magazine about writing an article about the evolution of travel blogs!

ps please feel free to leave other travel blogs in the comments section!
