this is how . . .

. . . I take 8 pieces of clothing to make 7 outfits so that I can only take a carry-on on a weeklong trip to london/paris.

1) grey american apparel unisex tshirt

2) gap silver ballet flats

3) black cropped blazer (mine is from forever 21)

4) black riding boots

5) white tunic from urban outfitters

6) blue skinny jeans
7) black leggings

8) black and white sweater (not the one pictured, but something like this)

and here are my different outfits:
day 1 -- black leggings, black boots, white tunic
day 2 -- blue jeans, grey tshirt, black blazer, silver shoes
day 3 -- blue jeans, grey tshirt, black/white sweater, black boots
day 4 -- black leggings, silver shoes, white tunic
day 5 -- blue jeans, black boots, white tunic
day 6 -- blue jeans, silver shoes, black/white sweater
day 7 -- black leggings, black blazer, black boots, grey tshirt

a ballet to kid A

you lucky UK motherfuckers. you assholes get a ballet set to radiohead's music.

+
=

'Ride The Beast' will make its London debut later this year. Tracks used include 'Hunting Bears', 'Idioteque', 'The National Anthem', 'Fitter Happier' and an acoustic version of 'Creep'.

Choreographer Stephen Petronio explained his choice of music for the piece, saying: "Radiohead's music is a brilliant investigation of achingly modern taste. They sail through genre and form effortlessly and passionately and their music demands a physical response from me that bypasses reason. I have to live with music so intimately while creating with it, I simply have to work with music I love."

'Ride The Beast' will be performed at:
Glasgow Theatre Royal (September 18-20)
Edinburgh Festival Theatre (25-27)
London Queen Elizabeth Hall (October 4-5)
Inverness Eden Court (7-8)
Aberdeen His Majesty's Theatre (10-11)

the death of elegance

this is a v. interesting article about bruce oldfield (a designer -- princess diana used to wear him all the time) and how he hates "how modern women are swopping effortless style for vulgar overkill"
compared to this:

it is a fun, quick, easy read that has inspired me to dress more elegantly (some of the time, anyways). now if only I wasn't broke. pooper.

I like alice temperley

I was watching nyc's public access show last night and at like 11 pm they had a world fashion show on, aka they highlight 3 designers and show a video of their runway and behind the scenes, and one of them was alice temperley (temperley london). I know she did target last year and her label's been around since 2000, but I don't really remember the clothes. anyways, I really liked what I saw so I looked her shit up, and I really like her designs! not all of them, of course, but they look like something real people can wear and look cute in and not too bougey.

here is a sampling:

Spring RTW 2008 (I am super in love w/ the first one)

Here is the little missy below, and if you want to read her cute answers to random questions, go here.
