I'm not a criminal: Poonam Pandey

No wonder that she’s been the most downloaded model on the internet during the world cup frenzy. But Poonam Pandey almost went underground soon after India won the World Cup and it was time for her to fulfill her promise – ‘GO NUDE IF INDIA WINS’.

Well, lot has been said, read and written everywhere, but Poonam seems to have moved on and is all set to make it big through popular reality show Fear Factor - Khatron Ke Khiladi, as one of the contestants.

In an exclusive chat, Poonam reveals it all…

How does it feel to be a part of a show like Fear Factor – Khantron Ke Khiladi?
‘Fear Factor’ happened so unexpectedly and it’s such a fabulous show on TV. I am so glad that I have got this chance, as this show is so different from rest of the boring reality shows.

All that drama during World Cup drama has really made you big in no time. What actually prompted you to declare that you want to go nude?
Well, that wasn’t drama!!! I would like to reiterate that ‘IT WAS NOT A PUBLICITY STUNT’.
The statement I made was for my Team India and I still am on my words. My intentions were clear. I just wanted to congratulate India, if they win the World Cup, in my own special way and I thought this would be a fun way and a good gesture too.

Alas, you left millions of fans disappointed who were eagerly waiting to see you stripping.
I don’t think I have disappointed my fans. I still love them and if their support remains with me, I will soon fulfill my promise. I am just waiting for BCCI permission and once that happens, I promise I WILL GO NUDE SOON. I also seek help from media to convey my request to BCCI to allow me to strip.


Why didn’t you simply go nude without telling anyone beforehand?
I agree India is a democratic country but I didn’t want to break any law. I am not a criminal.


But you were just about absconding after the World Cup got over. Ever your phone was switched off. Why so?
I was getting several threatening calls and people were saying abusive things - so I had to switch off my phone, as it became hard to deal with all of it. Those 2 days were the most difficult days of my life. I was getting calls every second from all parts of the world and that’s why I had to put my phone of switch off mode.


Did you friends support you when you shared your intentions to go nude?
They were with me like any other person. Though some people tried giving free advices but I didn’t entertain them because it was my decision and I didn’t ask anyone whether it was right or not.


So after the entire hullabaloo, is Bollywood the next step?
Of course, yes! There are plans for Bollywood and I am already getting a few offers but all that will happen once KKK is over.


Would you mind going nude for your movie roles, especially if it’s your debut movie?
Why not? I will do whatever comes my way – nudity, comedy, drama etc. It also depends on the movie and lot of other things. For me, it’s a part of acting, so why would I mind going that way. It’s like what all other actresses are doing in films – I will also do that without any hitch.
