romantic comedies = ruins life

I completely agree w/ this report that says romantic comadies can be hazardous to your lovelife/ruin your relationship. they create unrealistic standards and ideals and then if/when you compare your relationship to them, real life always seems inferior. chuck klosterman had it right. this chick had it right a year ago.

god, I hate it in movies when they see each other or meet each other and then after 1 hour they're like "i love you." fuck that noise. I'm talking to you,

Notting Hillhe (normal bookkeeper) spills coffee on her (famous actress) and she goes to his house and then immediately kisses him? give me a fuckin break

and

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Daysbar bet that falls perfectly into place? falling in love after 10 days? stopping a taxi on the brooklyn bridge? changing of hair from straight to curly to coincide with the falling in of the love? OVER IT.

although I do watch French Kiss whenever it's on tv. in its entirety. don't judge me.

one day in the future I'll make a feminism 101 post about how disney movies fuck up children, too. (I love you Little Mermaid, but how the fuck you gonna tell little girls that they only way to get their man and fall in love is to give up their voice and only use their body? so messed up)

ps let's make a list of good realistic relationship movies.
1. American Graffitti
2. High Fidelity (wait is this a fake-real relationship movie?)
3. Annie Hall
4. idk any more post your contribution

pps kd remember when you were dating starfish and you were like "come over and we'll bake cookies and watch love actually" and he was like "you're moving too fast."

icons are made, not born

this is cool to look at: "icons are made, not born" -- we are used to modern hollywood makeovers (I'm talking to you, j. lo), but here are some classic beautiful actresses befores and afters.

Some of the crazier ones to me:

grace kelly

faye dunaway

bridgette bardot

and of course, the obvious one (marilyn monroe)

peroxide and a nose job for everyone!

wow

it's annoying to me how everybody is pooping their pants over agyness dean (whose real name is plain laura hollins), "oh she's so different" "the fashion world needs something new and she's it" blah blah blah

I don't think her style is that great (even though she was just voted best dressed over kate moss). I think she looks like a blind grandma, but maybe that's just me. anyways, besides this unfounded hatred I have for her, I came across this old pic of her and it just goes to show how much a stylist can do for you. even though she's not in hollywood and is a british model, I will call this being "hollywoodized" ... something jlo, brittany murphey, etc, know all about.

it's basically when you were busted before and then look amazing thanks to a good eyebrow waxer, hairstylist, fashion stylist, and trainer.

here are more pictures of her ugly style:

mostly I think she sucks from this one interview that I read w/ her where she says her favorite thing to do is get really dressed up and go to the pub w/ her flatmate henry. she said something along the lines of "henry and I get really dressed up and the cab driver asks us if we're going to a costume party and we're like, nope! just the pub!!" like a fucking cunt.

kd fantasy and I used to do something along those lines, but we didn't suck. and we did it as a joke on all the hipster trash who frequented the new brunswick bars and thought they were the shit. anyways, my point is, she blows.
