Robyn, Take That, Kanye West, Rihanna

ROBYN "Body Talk"
Photobucket

Tracklist
  1. Fembot
  2. Don't fucking tell me what to do
  3. Dancing on my own
  4. Indestructible
  5. Time machine
  6. Love kills
  7. Hang with me
  8. Call your girlfriend
  9. None of dem
  10. We dance to the beat
  11. U should know better
  12. Dancehall queen
  13. Get myself together
  14. In my eyes
  15. Stars 4-ever
RATING: 8.5/10
Top-3 TRACKS: Dancing on my own, Indestructible, Time machine

TAKE THAT
"Progress"

Photobucket
Το album δεν είναι κακό, απλά ΔΕΝ είναι οι Take That που αγαπήσαμε.

Tracklist
  1. The flood
  2. SOS
  3. Wait
  4. Kidz
  5. Pretty things
  6. Happy now
  7. Underground machine
  8. What do you want from me?
  9. Affirmation
  10. Eight letters/Flowerbed
RATING: 6/10
Top-3 TRACKS: The flood, SOS, Happy now

KANYE WEST
"My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy"

Photobucket
Με ήδη 3 singles "Power", "Runaway" και "Monster", ένα απίθανο video για το "Power" κι ένα νέο single "All of the lights" το οποίο είναι απλά αριστούργημα, και με συμμετοχές όπως Kid Cudi, John Legend, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, Chris Rock, καθώς και Beyonce στο bonus track "See me now", o Kanye West παρουσιάζει ένα album που αν ξεπεράσει κάποιος την εμπάθεια για το πρόσωπό του θα το απολαύσει στο έπακρον.

Tracklist
  1. Dark fantasy
  2. Gorgeous
  3. Power
  4. All of the lights (interlude)
  5. All of the lights
  6. Monster
  7. So appalled
  8. Devil in a new dress
  9. Runaway
  10. Hell of a life
  11. Blame game
  12. Lost in the world
  13. Who will survive in America
  14. See me now
RATING: 7.5/10
Top-3 TRACKS: All of the lights, Power, Gorgeous

RIHANNA "Loud"
Photobucket
H Rihanna είναι από τις περιπτώσεις που την βλέπεις live, την ακούς στο cd και την παρακολουθείς σε βραβεία να εμφανίζεται ζωντανά και λες "what the fuck is she doin'?". Το πρώτο single "Only girl (in the world)" είναι σαν b side από album του Guetta, και γενικώς στο album υπάρχουν ελάχιστες καλές στιγμές, με έμπνευση στα όρια της ανυπαρξίας, με μπαλλάντες που η φωνή της δεν παλεύεται ("California king bed") και Beyonce wannabe κομμάτια όπως το "Raining men". Ευτυχώς το "Love the way you lie Part II" με τον Eminem σώζει λίγο την κατάσταση, όπως και το αρκετά καλό "S&M", καθώς και το "What's my name?" με τον Drake.

Tracklist
  1. S&M
  2. What's my name?
  3. Cheers (Drink to that)
  4. Fading
  5. Only girl (in the world)
  6. California king bed
  7. Man down
  8. Raining men
  9. Complicated
  10. Skin
  11. Love the way you lie Part II
RATING: 4.5/10
Top-3 TRACKS: S&M, What's my name?, Love the way you lie Part II

I love hoops sfm

and I am dying for these. please, buy them and send them my way thx!

"These hoops are fully customizable. Each hoop depicts a small miniture scene of a graffiti writer painting the side of a subway train. The great thing about it is, he is there to paint whatever you want! He can write your name or intimate message to a loved one, a political message, whatever its graffiti...anything can go. Each Name or phrase (space allowing) will be rendered in my graffiti handstyle. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding customization etc..."

I want these hoops w/ some dude writing "lady nasty" on it, with a penis or something

she's real.

I don't really have feelings about j. lo one way or another. I mean I guess she sucks, but I don't really care enough to not like her. that said, I really liked this video and song from like 2001 she did w/ ja rule. seriously. I know all the words. I didn't have cable so whenever I was at my friends' houses and mtv was on and this video played I would make everybody shut up, put my baby hairs down on my forehead, and sing. (the video won't let me embed, so just go to the link)

here are some gems from this little goody:
-- j. lo singing (aka autotune) "and when I'm feelin sexy, whose gonna comfort me?"
-- ja rule sayin "I'm nastay" (and then my vagina seals itself up)
-- j. lo saying "nigga" in a baby voice b/c that makes it okay?
-- ja rule looking like a downie the whole time (but I think that is just how his face is)

wu-tang + chess = true <3 <3 <3

RZA and a chess social networking site ChessPark just launched "WuChess," an online partnership that revolves around chess and hip hop. wow. so many bp nerds (that I love) just died a little!! apparently, it is for "for chess enthusiasts addicted to hip-hop music." obvi

Here is the quote on the homepage of WuChess:
“The game of chess, is like a swordfight. You must think first, before you move. Toad style is immensely strong, and immune to nearly any weapon. When it's properly used, it's almost invincible . . .”

bobby digital is so cerebral!!! I love him. seriously, rza is the man. check this out -- he has so much going on, is supersmart (chess master), super creative, super prolific in his music, basically, has all his shit on lockdown. now I want to go amazon The Wu-Tang Manual

Os Gemeos

whoaa

when I was looking at the bomb it (documentary mentioned below) site I saw some art that looked familiar. I came across this pic sometime last year and blogged about it but didn't know where it was from and then I saw the same style on the bomb it site so I kept looking and found out about these 2 motherfuckers.

Os Gemeos, Portugese for “the twins,” are Brazil’s most world renowned graffiti artists/muralists. The identical twins began painting in ’88 and today work on canvases, sculptures, graphic design, and outdoor walls, making the transition from street credibility to international art gallery phenoms. They are huge for doing pichaçao (tag) spontaneously on the street.

here is just a glimpse at some of their stuff:

they painted on a castle!

apparently they have a huge mural on coney island that I must check out. I love them and want prints of their work in my house asap.

Terrible T-Kid

There is this interview w/ terrible t-kid (a graffiti artist from the bronx that's been tagging since the 70s) that I haven't read yet but really want to. He ran w/ this crew the vamp squad (I want a crew!) that used to cause mayhem and ran around and robbed other writers.

here is a montage of his tags I found on youtube...I only looked at a couple minutes but I'm into it

he's interviewed in this new documentary about graffiti and street art called "bomb it" (click here to watch the trailer). it looks sweet b/c it's not just about old school graffiti but also this:

"While some believe the roots of graffiti can be traced back to pre-linguistic cave markings and the innate human need for self-expression, graffiti remains a highly controversial issue. Graffiti raises important questions that delve deep into our contemporary social structure such as: Who has the right to express themselves? What is a canvas? Where should art take place? If public space is a forum for discussion, which voices will be heard?"

I am so going to buy this shit.

Update: I read the interview, and I am super into what he says about politicians and gentrification:

"Yea, that’s bullshit man, these politicians with the “equality of life”. The bottom line is it’s all about money and that’s what they’re there for. I have yet to see a politician who’s kept his word and improved anybody’s life. Ok, to me, if you’re rich, you don’t need to improve your life any more. If you’re poor that’s when you need to improve your life. These politicians don’t look at it that way. They look at it like – look, let’s get these people who have the money and let’s clean everything up for them so they can be happy and they can feel good about themselves, let’s not worry so much about the run down areas in New York City – such as East New York, such as Brownsville, such as the South Bronx. They trying, they trying, but what are they trying? They trying to gentrify [the neighborhoods]. They not tying to clean up the place for the people, no, they trying to clean it up for the money."

the cool kids

no, really, that's their name

apparently they are 2 fellas named Mikey and Chuck from chicago...their influence is 80s and 90s rap...this video is for their song black mags from their album called totally flossed out

I saw a commercial w/ them where the one bp is wearing one of those pastel t-shirts with a wolf on them and mr jones and I were into it.

oh that reminds me. a month ago mr jones was at the eye doctor and I was in the waiting room and I saw this fatty white trashy across from me in her late 30s and she was wearing a faded black sweatshirt with three wolves on it and underneath in cursive it said "protectors of nature." it was amazing.
