Actress Qi Wei’s (戚薇) part in Hui Ma Qiang (回马枪) has been completely removed after she refused to sell her body in exchange for sponsorship of the film.

An insider, alias Bajiaoshan (芭蕉扇), said a famous brand’s vice president had offered to sponsor promotion of the film to the tune of 5 million yuan (US$773,000).

On the eve of signing the deal, however, the company boss allegedly demanded one of the film’s leading actresses,

Qi Wei, accompany him on a trip to Macau.

Despite repeated negotiations, the actress refused to follow the “unwritten rules” (qian guize, 潜规则) — basically requiring her to prostitute herself for the sake of her craft and career.

So, the sponsorship deal fell apart and the production company was so furious at the actress that they cut all her scenes in the crime comedy, to be shown later this month.

Although the insider did not reveal the brave actress’ name, netizens believe it is Qi Wei, as the film’s most recent poster no longer bears her name or image.
